Fr Patrick Peyton Centenary

2009 is the Centenary of the birth of Servant of God, Fr Patrick Peyton, CSC. Fr Peyton was born in Attymass, Co. Mayo in January 1909. As a young man he emigrated to U.S.A. and was later ordained priests, alongside his brother Tom, on June 15th 1941. Putting his ministry and health in Our Lady’s hands, he travelled the world with the profound message “The family that prays together, stays together” and “a world at prayer is a world at peace”.
On Sunday, January 4th 2009, Bishop Brendan Kelly was chief-celebrant at a Mass to mark the beginning of a year of Centenary Celebration. RTE TV broadcast the Mass live from Attymass. The clip below is Bishop Brendan’s homily at that Mass.
